bulk email software performance

Hello, I have a custmer database of over 5000 custmers will I ba able to send email in 1 go?

Yes, our bulk email software is tested with large email lists (up to 100.000 email addresses databases)

Will the software automatically remove any duplicate e-mail addresses?

Yes, SendBlaster never sends twice to the same email address (unless you put that email address in more distribution lists)

Can I send e-mails part of a list or only a full list?

Yes, you can build, manage and send multiple lists

The speed of sending emails is very important to me, I need a software that can email 1000 email, in 30 minutes or less. While trying your program (that i love, did i mention that i love it ?) I estimated teh speed of sending at the begining at 480 emails per hour (8 emails per minute), which is not what im looking for, but close enough. Then, stranly, later the speed dropped in a very obvious way to arond 150 emails per hour (2-3 emails per minute).

I have 2 questions: 1. how can i restore the original speed, and 2. is tehre a way to make the sending proccess faster? wether by the program options and settings, the smtp server, or the ISP provider? Anything that will allow me to send 1000 emails in less than 30 minutes?

Success and speed in send depends to you SMTP service, so if we suppose you have a good internet connection (DSL) a good SMTP server (provided from your ISP) and emails size is around 10 kb, you may use SendBlaster bulk emai software to send around 7.000/10.000 email per hour.

My internet connection speed is 512 KB download / 128 upload , I use the SMTP server of my ISP, and the avg size of each email is 100 kb , how many emails/hour your bulk email program is supposed to send under these conditions?

We strongly suggest you to avoid emails with 100kb, since it is quite heavy, even spam filters may be allerted. Usually customers insert the image file in a web server with a link inside the email message in order to keep message tiny. Moreover speed of send depends in you ISP, you may try sending 100 of those email and check speed.

Since Sendblaster Bulk Email Software sends every email separately, we guess you may send around 500 emails per hour with size 100 kb.

Obvoiusly 1.000 email x 100kb each one means a total of 100 MB of data to send, that means that your ISP may block you in sending such ammount of data.

DAO libraries missing files error

I am testing SENDBLASTER at a NOTEBOOK with Microsoft VISTA. It presented an error “Some DAO libraries were not found on your PC. Please download….”.

I download, and installed. It did not work. Uninstalled, cleaned registers, made a new sendblaster instalation, rebooted, installed DAO35SETUP againd and I continue receiving same message…

This is a common error among SendBlaster installation on Windows Vista, because SendBlaster must be installed and used with User Account Control enabled on Windows Vista operating systems.

To resolve this DAO35SETUP error please follow these instructions:

  1. Uninstall SendBlaster (from control panel)
  2. log in as administrator
  3. Enable Vista USER ACCOUNT CONTROL (UAC)
  4. Install SendBlaster

E-mail tracking made easy

How many email messages were actually read? How many readers followed links? You don’t need any sophisticated tool in order to obtain this valuable information: learn how to use your website logs and report system to realize a good email tracking system that works in any kind of email.

How many people read my mail?

All e-mail tracking systems use the same technique: they insert into the email message body a transparent one-pixel image pointing to a .GIF file on a server; when one of your recipients opens the email message, the invisible image is pulled from the server, generating a logged event that shows when the message was opened.

This technique is easily replicable on any website: insert into the email body a transparent one-pixel image, pointing to a file on your server; after sending your mailing, browse your site stats and see how many unique visitors downloaded that particular file. This will tell you how many receivers actually opened and read the email message.
This method is not perfect: it will underestimate the number of receivers since some people do not allow their e-mail client to download files from online servers; but it is as accurate as any commercial tracking system.

Setup email tracking Step by step:

For each mailing:

  • create a transparent one-pixel .gif image and upload it on your web server. Remember that each mailing should have its own image file: as an example, you can name each .gif file after the mailing’s date: 20060910.gif, 20060911.gif and so on.
  • After finishing composing the message, insert the picture at the bottom (enter its full Url as the image path: i.e. http://www.mywebsite.com/tracking/20060910.gif)
  • Send your mailing
  • After some time, browse your site stats and see how many people (unique visitors) downloaded the image (20060910.gif in our example).

How many people click on email links?

Knowing how many people read your mail is important; but what you probably really want to know is your mailing’s effectiveness: did your recipients positively responded to your message? Did they follow the links you suggested?

Once again, you can simply use your website stats to obtain this information with a simple trick: don’t send “generic” links, but prepare a custom web page for each mailing. You don’t need to actually write new content: if your site has a page named products.htm, make a copy of it and name it products20060910.htm, and put this “custom” link (not the “original” page) in the message. Your website stats will tell you how many unique visitors followed that link: since the only way of reaching that page will be from your mailing (of course you must not put any links to this page on your website!), this is the magic number telling you how many of your recipients clicked on your link.

When I send I sometimes receive a “Socket operation on a non-socket” error

The “Socket operation on a non-socket” error means that, for some reason, the Windows TCP-IP stack has been overloaded, and the socket channel (which is used for communicating with the Internet) has been shut down abruptly.
This error may have a lot of causes, which usually require a good network analysis and networking skills in order to be tracked down. But most of the times this is just a temporary error which will be solved simply restarting Windows.
If the error repeats, here are some hints:

  • Before launching a mailing close all other programs and processes, expecially those who need internet access
  • Temporarily disable your firewall, antivirus and other Internet security programs
  • As a test, in order to track down timing problems on the network, configure SendBlaster’s “Send” settings to use just 1 connection and set a pause of 5 seconds between messages (if it works, you will gradually increase speed later)
  • Perform a system scan and make sure that no spywares, trojans or other malware are running (they may be silently having Internet access)
  • Update drivers for all network gear (modems, routers, USB dongles)
  • If you are on a wireless connection, make sure the connection is good and stable
  • Apply Windows updates if any are available
  • If you are using an Smtp server, check that it is working (you may have to ask your ISP)
  • As a last resort, install SendBlaster on another PC connected to the same local network (this way you will be able to check whether the issue is coming from your PC or from the network)

As this is a network-related problem, you may find additional information performing a search on a search engine with “socket operation on a non-socket” keywords.
